Slate eyes steadily watch the darkened ceiling of her room, as delicate ears listened to her slumbering lover's gentle breathing. The sheets wrapping her naked body were warm against her skin. Her body cried for sleep even as her mind ground away in its own little world.

That interview with Phoenix she and the other two watched on tv still gnawed at her for some reason. She couldn't place it, but something about him rubbed her the wrong way.

I swear...he and Mitch haveta be connected somehow...just...tryin' ta figure out what it is...heh...goes beyond HLM's dislike of the bird, too...

She shook her head a little and smiled softly when Narrah rolled over and slipped his arms around her, pulling her close in his sleep. The young woman curled up to him and breathed in his scent.

That'll wait, though...I'm so glad just to be back...hated Teirnan being in my body...

She shuddered and nuzzled a little more into Narrah's shoulder.

...hated drifting...doing so little to help him...seeing him hurting and not able to do anything about it...

A fine-boned hand pressed itself to her flat tummy as her slender throat convulsively swallowed bitter pain.

Gods...how the hell that bastard managed to use my body to fuck an orc...ew...jest...ew. I...don't wanna know...

She sighed softly, closed her eyes.

Wasn't the kid's fault...wish it didn't haveta die, but...well hell...that woulda been one hell of a painful death fer me, too...heh...doc said it was a near thing as it was...if it weren't for Aiden...I owe him my life twice over...if not more...

A tear slipped from an eye.

At least that part's over...dun ever wanna go through anything like that again...ever...gods...

Soft lips turned up to kiss the man's strong jaw, just before drifting off.
